Glenn Cleveland
Manager, Forest Inventory and Analysis
In 2006, Glenn joined RMS after 31 years with International Paper. Today, he directs a team devoted to maintaining accurate forest inventory, land records, and digital maps. His staff also provides data and mathematical support related to harvest schedules, silviculture guidelines, land sales and forest acquisitions. As an IP biometrician, his articles were published in many scientific journals, including Forest Science, Southern Journal of Applied Forestry and Environmental Entomology. He championed the application of such emerging technologies as satellite imagery, geographic information systems, statistical modeling, artificial intelligence, and remote sensing. He represented IP in several university research initiatives and served on US Forest Service committees, most notably the inaugural national Blue Ribbon Panel on Forest Inventory and Analysis. His IP career culminated with the development and operational responsibility for a distributed computer system linking tabular and spatial information. That system enabled foresters to manage stand-level inventory and schedule optimal harvests on over 9 million acres. A former Marine Corps sergeant, Glenn earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Forestry from the University of Georgia.
